Obrist interior expands manufacturing in the United States
Display Craft Manufacturing Co.

Obrist interior has acquired the U.S.-based production company Display Craft Manufacturing Co. in Baltimore. With this acquisition, Obrist strengthens its presence in the U.S. market and expands its service portfolio with a local manufacturing facility serving North America.

This step is part of Obrist interior’s long-term growth strategy and responds to increasing demand from international clients for local presence. In particular, luxury and premium brands with a strong footprint in the United States are seeking shorter lead times, faster response times, and closer collaboration with local manufacturing partners.

Swiss quality, closer to the customer

Display Craft Manufacturing Co. has been successfully operating for more than 75 years in the field of custom retail displays, bespoke store fixtures, and interior build-outs. With approximately 40 highly skilled employees, the company will be gradually integrated into Obrist interior’s values and quality standards.

Swiss quality, precision, passion, and reliability in both planning and execution remain core principles. At the same time, close collaboration with the main production facility in Switzerland will continue, which is also being further expanded.

Local manufacturing in the United States contributes to more sustainable and efficient project execution: transportation distances are reduced, logistics and packaging are simplified, and overall project timelines are significantly shortened. In addition, the North American market, particularly the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, can now be served more directly and effectively.

The location between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. is strategically ideal. Proximity to major economic regions, international transportation hubs, and key metropolitan areas ensures optimal connectivity and rapid response times for customers across North America.

The acquisition also enables expanded production capacity, reduced dependency on external suppliers, increased flexibility, improved cost structures, and greater strategic resilience. As a result, clients benefit from solutions that are both economically and environmentally efficient.

Leadership and organization in close collaboration with the existing team

Operational leadership will be assumed by Corrado Tona, who already serves as CEO of Obrist interior America Inc., succeeding Todd Weitzman, who will take on the role of COO.

Corrado Tona comments: "With this acquisition, we are gaining a strong local team, expanding our manufacturing expertise, and positioning ourselves even closer to our customers. This strengthens our competitiveness and enables us to serve the U.S. market, which we have actively developed in recent years, in an even more targeted way."

Owner Stefan Slamanig adds: "This acquisition represents a strategically important step. It increases our flexibility, lowers costs, shortens project timelines, and sustainably strengthens our market position. At the same time, we are deepening our existing presence in the United States and reinforcing the Obrist name across the entire value chain."

Opportunities for employees and emerging talent

The U.S. production site also creates new opportunities for employees from the Swiss locations. Deployment and development assignments in the United States are planned, particularly for skilled carpenters and future manufacturing leaders.

In addition, Obrist is evaluating how structured vocational training models could be established in the United States over the medium term. The goal is to provide young people with solid craft-based career opportunities while actively addressing the shortage of skilled professionals in the industry.
